The great Mahabharata battle took away the lives of many and left many families incomplete. What would it be like if Anga Raj Karna had a daughter? What would the emotional turmoil of a young girl who lost all she called family in the battle be like? The diversity of the characters, and what may have been their perspectives, is one of the major factors that continues to kindle the flame that has made 'The Mahabharata' an evergreen epic. Yet, the details exploring the lives of the remaining members of the Kuru Dynasty, post the catastrophic battle of Kurukshetra, is left to the imagination. Through exploring what could possibly have taken place post the battle of Kurukshetra, the main focus of this story lies in traversing through the emotions of the various characters - including their unique and heart-warming bonds with the main protagonist of the story. *This is a purely fictional story. Karna's daughter is a character that I have made up for the purpose of this story. An FF on Mahabharat. A story, which is a mix of the present world and the past world. With the Pandavas as the princes, but a college life added. With all events taking place, but new details added. (It's a fictional book, not everything in this book is real. Please do not try to debate. Written in English and Hindi. Please be open minded to read this.) - A girl, who wanted education to an extent, to which she wasn't getting, sets on a journey, unfair, probably against dharma figures out her ways and adds a new spark to the lives of everyone around. (Pairs. -Yudhisthira and Devika. -Yudhisthira and Draupadi -Bheema and Draupadi -Arjun and Subhadra -Arjun and Draupadi -Nakul and Karenumati -Nakul and Draupadi -Sahadev and Vijaya - Sahadev and Draupadi.) -All above characters will be positive. Enjoy!!

While going out from dyut sabha, I was guilt ridden, ashamed, beyond hurt from my inside. I was not angry with anyone but myself. I knew that whatever happened today was only my fault. It was me, who staked my kingdom, my people, my brothers and my wife. I failed miserably from being a good son, a good brother, a good husband and a good king. Do I still deserve the title of Dharmaraj? This story is based on the events happened in the life of Pandavas after the unfair game of dice. The incidents have been described from the view point of Dharmaraj Yudhisthira, being the protagonist of this story. I feel that the period of exile was most difficult for eldest Pandava, because he was guilt ridden, and ashamed for his deeds. His family has not yet forgiven him. His heart was bleeding with self hatred, yet he cannot confide to anyone, not even his wife and his brothers. He bottled up all his emotions within himself and continued bearing the pain inflicted by his brothers' and his wife's rude remarks from time to time.

Devika is the second wife of Yudhisthira, the daughter of the Shibi dynasty, and the mother of those heroic children who were cruelly deprived of their bravery in the darkness of the night. Every soul might not be recognised for who he or she was. But, can the truth be altered by simply not choosing to accept it? Can the love be made non existent by choosing to not recognise it? This is the story of Devika and Yudhisthira. I'm trying to lighten the inextinguishable lamps of that truth. Disclaimer: This work is based on the Mahabharata. Names, characters and places are from the epic and so is the main plot line. I will try to make the best use of creative liberty and fiction without distorting the incidents/events, the core of the characters and the epic.

You may have watched a movie or TV show based on Mahābhārata, or read an adaptation or translation of the story, or even written a fan fiction from the point of view of your favourite character. Have you ever wondered how an incident or dialogue sounded in the original Saṃskṛta text? What values did Kṛṣṇa Vāsudeva, Karṇa Rādheya etc. espouse according to their speeches in the critical edition's reconstruction of the text as it was several centuries ago? Unfortunately, most people of Indian origin or affinity don't make the effort to read Saṃskṛta. Through this book, I would like to make it accessible to my readers. I have created fan fiction and translated the text that inspired it, but please try to sound out the original Saṃskṛta as well, and feel its rhythm. Mahābhārata is fiction in the public domain. Everyone who retells the story adds or ignores something, as I do in this book. You may or may not like my Mahābhārata fan fiction (please tell me either way!), but the purpose of this book is to give everyone the opportunity to read their favourite parts of Mahābhārata in the original Saṃskṛta - a musical, enchanting, and refined language. Your contributions and requests are welcome. The title is spoken by Gāndhārī to Kṛṣṇā Draupadī (Strīparvan 15.20): "Just as you are, even so am I; or who would reassure me?" How many characters from Mahābhārata may have felt lonely in shared experiences? Cover picture of Satyabhāmā Sātrājitī visiting Kṛṣṇā Draupadī is from Mahābhārata with Hindi translation by Paṇḍita Rāmanārāyaṇadatta Śāstrī Pāṇḍeya, Gita Press (Gorakhpur).
