As the new girl of Domino High, Danielle Foster, seeks to find purpose in her life. As she heard of the game Dual Monsters, she only has one card that she has treasured since she was small. The card was given to her by an old friend and she vowed to keep it in her possession for as long as time. As getting used to her new surroundings, Danielle stumbles across Yugi Moto, the King of Games. Taking an immediate liking to her, Yugi shows her around the school and even the city. His friends believe otherwise, seeing her as sort of a freak due to the pendant she wears in her collar-necklace. As time passes, Yugi and Danielle come to realize that a great evil has walked the earth again. Now it is up to Yugi to stop it... Even if it means some sacrifices.

(REWRITTEN) When Hope Sanders had barely made it into Duel Academy with the help and support of her family and her Duel Spirits, not once did she think she might be risking her life. And yet here she was, facing down the scariest teacher she had ever seen, supported by the scariest teenagers she had ever met, forcing herself to stay strong when she was absolutely powerless and useless in a situation that called for the one thing she had absolutely no skills in: Duel Monsters. Because unnaturally muscular teenagers, obsessive card games, and creepy child-talk was normal. Yep. And more importantly, everyone in the school wanted her. No, not because she was valuable or anything, but because she was their source for new cards. As if that wasn't enough of a nightmare, Hope has a lot of self-discovery and secrets to uncover about her hidden past and the future of The Weather Painters, as well as how they are linked with the Crystal Beasts.
