The first day of school entails how the rest of your year at Phoenix Drop would lead to, trouble, angst, and romance. *** Glancing off the mirror, I was a mess. After waking up, I took my shower, got dressed, prepared for the grueling day, and was currently combing my hair in the bathroom crying like a baby. Baby? Baby. "Awy, get down from dere!" A little toddler shouted, voice pitchy, a baby who swayed away from correct pronunciations. She struggled to climb up the large oak tree, the wood scratching at her soft palms, causing her to pause and itch with her neat fingernails. The instinct soon soothing before reluctantly attempted to reach the boy that sat on the branches. The boy couldn't help, but laugh sweetly at her failed attempts. "F/n, you're never going to get me! Loser, loser, you're a little loser! Pfft- stop it!" He chanted in her my face, teasing her so innocently as if she wasn't on the brink of tears due to her failure. The toddler could only glance up at him, pouting, lips quivering. "Y-You're so... so mean! I'm telling!" Immediately, she bursted into tears, running back into his house to snitch on him to his mother. From the branch, he picked at the leaves, shaking his head and rolling his eyes. "...What a baby." Phoenix Drop High's self-proclaimed heartthrobs, Garroth Ro'meave and Laurence Zvahl, used to be inseparable. But after falling apart during their sophomore year for unknown reasons, they're now known as the school's fated rivals. Garroth seems to be missing someone. Katelyn picks up on this after catching him sneaking mournful glances at the soccer oval. Laurence is acting different, avoiding people and throwing himself into his work life. Popularity be damned, everyone can see he looks exhausted. As time passes, students begin to suspect that there might be more to this 'rivarly'. They're two weeks into their Junior year and still haven't fought once. Everyone is living for the tension between them, waiting for one of them to snap.
