The spirits of the dead are real just as they are always with you. For as long as anyone can remember, ghosts have always been able to materialize in the physical plane of existence, making their presence known to everyone in the world. However, with the existence of good ghosts come bad ghosts. Evil spirits known as Hollows have existed just as long as normal ghosts have. Their appetite for souls knows no bounds just as their hunger for living souls. To that end, warriors, wielding powers beyond normal comprehension, have sworn a duty to protect the souls of the living and dead against these monsters to maintain the balance of souls between worlds. These warriors are known as the Soul Reapers. Years later, Quirks have begun appearing within society and have made up 80 percent of the world's population. The remaining 20 percent are still without power and are deemed "Quirkless". However, half of that 20 percent are given the chance to become Soul Reapers with the help of the existence of "Spirit Quirks" as society has dubbed them. The Soul Reapers work in allegiance with the Japanese Government and the Soul Society (the world as they know it as well as the plane of the afterlife) to protect the world against the Hollows. One day, a young boy was born to a former Soul Reaper Captain and a Quincy (warriors who destroy Hollows using Spirit Energy bows and arrows) who was just radiating with pure spirit energy. The happy couple thought their lives were complete when they were suddenly under attack by a surge of Hollows who had come for the boy's spiritual strength. The father and mother were murdered by the horde, leaving the boy at the mercy of the Hollows before the other Captains of the 13 Court Guard Squads came to the boy's rescue. Captain Retsu Unohana, feeling sorry for the young infant, took it upon herself to raise the child as her own. This is the story of a boy who desires to become the number 1 Soul Reaper and protect others from harm.

Kurosaki Ichigo is possibly one of the kindest, sweetest kids most would say they had ever met. An honest to Soul King dragon, because apparently they exist? Instead of the talks and worries of Ichigo's first pet being a dog... or a cat... or maybe even a lizard, he has a dragon. Life now just became a bit of a worse headache... especially when Ichigo suddenly becomes a beacon for dragons. He kept a very small portion of his power in a palace guarded by the zero squad, taking the form of a limbless body in a crystal. However despite his power, the soul king was worried for his worlds because of the existence of one being, someone so unnatural, someone with enough power that he threatened to destroy the worlds if he was ever allowed to reach his full potential. This someone, was a carrot topped human by the name of Ichigo Kurosaki. A being whose soul had the power of a soul reaper, a hollow, and a quincy. A being who surpassed even Sosuke Aizen, who got closer to being as powerful as the soul king with each passing second due to the hogyoku. However, he could only go so far with the help of the hogyoku. Luckily for the Soul King, there were many ways he could deal with the human. He could simply erase him from existence, he wasn't at a level where that would be impossible. He could also take away his powers and leave him to leave the life of a normal human. Yet the king wasn't without mercy. And he was going to need some form of entertainment for the next few years. It was then that he made his decision. Too make him a child again. To leave him with the ability to regain his powers and reach his full potential. To take away his memory and leave him to flail in a world made by lesser gods.
