A few months after Kuvira's defeat loyalists to her still remain within the newly established independent states that used to be the earth kingdom. Their target is to establish a foothold within the state of Zaofu, and use it's strategical position to later invade the largest state and earlier capitol, that of Ba Sing Se. Commander Xaio is the leader of the loyalist group called the uniter's imperialists, and they are the only remaining loyalist group.

Kuvira and Nai have been best friends since birth. But one day their parents never return home. They wait weeks in that crumbled apartment for them to come back, but it never happens. The now orphaned Nai and Kuvira gain the pity and attention of Suyin Beifong. After discovering Kuviras prodigy level bending they are taken to Zaofu. However as they grow up Nai is cast into the shadows, she isn't like the other non-benders there, she doesn't have an academic gift. She's jealous of Kuvira, but shes also secretly in love with her. But when she finally gets the courage, Kuvira announces that she's dating Baatar jr. Follow Nai on her journey to find her own light.
