This is a rewrite of a story I never finished. I plan to finish this one and I plane for it to be different from the original. I claim all rights to all the characters in this, all of them are fake and even if they have similar names and/or appearances to real people they are not based off those people. But if people want to draw stuff or make forms of fan art (which is very unlikely) go ahead. Also one of the reasons I write is to see what couples people want in the story so comment pairing if you see any that could arise or leave ideas. I love feed back, good and bad.

It's the 22nd century and modern science and technology have recorded some of the most amazing and seemingly impossible feats of the last decade. Doctors in an Advanced Medical Research and Practices building have attempted with success to resuscitate human bodies cryogenically preserved over 200 years ago. But when things begin to get out of hand with a new virus that threatens the very existence of man,shouldn't they have just let the sleeping dead lie?

"...not a warning. I repeat this is not a warning, Governor Bevin has issued a state of emergency. If you have been in contact with an infected person report to a medical facility immediately. Anybody who does not wish to stay inside their home must report to their nearest Emergency Shelter. Stay away from any heavily populated areas. If you do not know your emergency shelter, report to the nearest JCPS school." The news reporter looked distressed. Right before she was about to continue the tv cut out and went to static. "Shit!" I yelled. I ran back to window and looked outside and saw another explosion, this one closer to us. "Nico? What's going on?!" Ruth stopped me. "Ruth. That virus...it's here...in Louisville"

Zombies. Of course zombies. After months of surviving alone, Alec Matheson spends his days hunting these creatures, defending his home every night as they come in droves. Morgan Casey spends her days running to an unknown location, taking shelter at night as the dead return to walk the streets. Even though alone, confident in the near extinction of humanity, there is but one thing that drives them forward: an instinct which is telling them to survive.

It's hard to imagine now, but once upon a time the zombie was not in the public nomenclature like it is today. The Walking Dead and Resident Evil have helped popularize the modern zombie, taking it to hellishly new heights. But what about a science-fictional cause for the outbreak...?

The dead have risen. The infection has now taken 98% of the United States' population. The rest of the world had enough time to put their emergency plans into action. Least, that's what the news said the day the power went out. It is my job as the Second Horseman to to gather the others in order to destroy Lucifer for what he's done. I am War, and this is my story. The title of the book is a lyric from Metallica's "Wherever I May Roam" I do not own the exact words in this phrase, but I do own it as a book title and as a book title ONLY. Life as you know it can end in the blink of an eye. You could be sitting in your living room on a Sunday afternoon with the family watching the baseball game when all of a sudden, the game is stopped, a news report forces itself onto the television and gunshots are echoing through your ears. Sound travels faster than the speed of light, I wonder how fast death travels in a hell hole like this. Project Z went bad, sending a new strand of infection into the civilians enslaved in their day to day schedule. Going to work, coming home, watching tv, getting drunk, and doing the same thing the next day. The population on the planet is down to a low 1 million people still alive on this earth. And we are apart of that count, I don't plan to die, none of us do. We are going to beat Project Z, we are going to survive.
