This story is about how Sonic Forces was started and the rise of Infinite. This takes place in an AU where Infinite (Zero) and Sonic's roles are switched. Sonic is the mysterious villain and Zero is the beloved Hero of Möbius. So this is basically a rewrite of Sonic forces in a way.

After the Zombot apocalypse, Whisper went off to clear her head, take a break, and try to forget everything she felt during the final act of the disaster. That was until she ran into a familiar character, a character that ruined not only her's, the all of Mobius' lives... who knew that a hero and one of the most wanted villains in the world could end up together. (I know, I suck at descriptions, but come in! Give me a break! I'm trying ;-; )

But what happens when years later when his alternate self, Scourge gets ahold of the heart? Will he die, not becoming his true self, or will he do anything to get the Heart of a Hero back?

Eggman has resurrected an old enemy and that old enemy has captured Sonic, causing people to lose hope and gain fear. But not everyone is terrified. When Zero the Jackal, former leader of a squad of jackals called the Jackal Squad stands up against the threat, things will get intense as Zero struggles with being neutral and letting go of what happened to his squad. Who will win? The Eggman Empire? Or the Resistance? (Note: This is kind of like Sonic Forces, but more of an AU story of what would happen if Infinite/Zero were to side with the Resistance and lost his Jackal Squad differently. The Echidnas would even dare to sometimes call him a "Living Chaos Emerald." The Knuckles Clan then grows suspicious if he might be the prophesied "The Messenger," a being promised to one of the most powerful beings in the world to prepare it for the arrival of the being on the mural in the Hidden Palace. As Jules grows up, eventually leaving Angel Island, taking his best friends with him, he begins to try to understand what might be his purpose, his true reason to exist.

One way or another, the war needs to end. Even if it means the death of one person, you. But that's alright, you would tell yourself. The depression took over long ago. So what's it matter? This war ends. No matter the cost. (There are mentions of suicide in this story, and a near-attempt. Please, seek help if you ever feel this way, and don't read this is this "triggers" you.
