He might have a seizure, a heart attack, his heart might stop, go into a coma for a long time, become paralyzed, he might die, etc. You get the point. Carter is my favorite character and it's just more interesting to me when he gets hurt.

Artemis Hall, a boarding school for girls where the unwanted girls were sent- illegimate daughters, troublemakers, rebellious girls, refuges, girls too smart for their own good. In the small town it was located, Artemis Hall had the reputation for being haunted. Four roomates bond over their fears- that is until one of them mysteriously dissapears. Almost seventy years later, journalist Nico Di Angelo is still griving over the loss of his sister thirteen years after her murder, still looking for answers that were never given. When he discovers that Artemis Hall is being restored by an anonymous benefactor, he decides to write a story about it. But when a shocking discovery leads him closer to the secrets meant to be hidden in the school, things might not turn out nicely.

Leo just wanted a break. But this proves difficult when he walks into a room where a girl is fighting a weird monster with a long neck. Now Leo has to deal with a whole other mythology. Great!

Sadie Kane is the school's bad girl. Anubis Osiris is the part of the popular gang. Zia Rashid is the school's athlete. Carter Kane is the school's hot nerd. Maybe some more might happen during the tutoring for Zia, or those detention sessions with Sadie and Anubis.

This story takes place three years after the Serpents Shadow. So, Sadie is going to be turning sixteen in two days. She dreads her birthday because she always remembers that god of death and funerals, Anubis. She had been arguing with Walt so their relationship didn't work out. Meanwhile, Jaz and Walt are a couple but they didn't tell Sadie. Carter and Zia are very concerned for her and make sure that she's alright every now and then. Sadie is still the same person but she occasionally has some breakdowns. But, what if Anubis showed up again? Anubis had two choices for his punishment. Be killed and never see Sadie Kane again. Or go to war and have the possibility of getting killed. He obviously chose the second one. And then he soon shows up in Sadie's room on a Friday evening to explain what had happened...
