The year is 2001. The location: Safe Haven. The remnants of a decimated alien race seek shelter from their aggressors, as well as a means to launch a counterattack. The Big Five are Zoo Phoenix Academy's most well-known and well-loved clique. Everyone knows Zill's witty, easy-going attitude, Kayla's sweet, selfless disposition; and Jack's awkward-but-lovable luckless quirk. And just like everyone knows the Zill/Kayla couple combo and the Zill/Jack B.F.F. combo, everyone knows that the last two members of the group are as inseparable as the others. Spam and Vanexa are the "oddballs" compared to the others (even Jack, which is saying something), and while Spam's goofiness and Vanexa's aloofness might not seem to mix, they're closer than two peas in a pod. The Malakhite Families' experiment has finally come to fruition. Cameron Walden (now the Avatar of the Phoenix) proved to be the perfect host for the fallen angel Adina during the Holy War. All that's required is to obtain her blood and isolate its angelic component... which is easier said than done. When Zuriel and the other six Heads of the Malakhite Families head to the Northwest Safe Haven to meet Cameron, they expect smooth sailing and cooperation. But on the off-chance that Cameron gives them a loud, hearty "NO", well... they have contingencies in place. Unfortunately for Zuriel, his journey to Safe Haven causes Ramiro and Hadali to spring into action as well. Before the Convergence... Before the Avatar was chosen... before Xirxine ventured beyond Safe Haven's borders... there was a legend. It told of a glorious battle between a phoenix and a dragon, a days-long war for the fate of Safe Haven. In its most basic summary, the dragon appeared out of nowhere, took over the hidden world, and was ultimately disintegrated by the phoenix after their battle. So the story says. But as any of the four dragon brothers would tell you--were they allowed to do so--there is a great difference between legend... and HISTORY. Safe Haven is on high alert. The Saved just unleashed their biggest attack on the city yet-all as a distraction to recover the cadaver of Moll Ferris, founder of the Saved.
