"I don't want to live like this... Like an animal in a cage. Kept alive only for people's entertainment..."
Corvian, a harpy trapped in a zoo filled with mythical creatures, lives a life of isolation and despair. Among the indifferent staff and gawking visitors, the only person who treats him with kindness is Oliver, the zookeeper. Unlike the others, Oliver sees Corvian as more than just an exhibit-he treats him with dignity, caring for him with genuine compassion.
Oliver despises the small, confining cage that Corvian is forced to live in and does his best to ease the harpy's suffering. Corvian, in turn, tolerates no one in the zoo except Oliver. He's grown weary of children pounding on the glass walls of his enclosure, the constant noise, and the never-ending feeling of being trapped. Each passing day chips away at his spirit, his health deteriorating as his will to live fades.
Will Corvian ever find freedom-or even a glimmer of happiness-within the walls of his prison? Or will his wings, both literal and metaphorical, remain forever clipped?
