After the 100-year war ended, everyone thought things would settle peacefully, and restoration would be challenging, but a good process. But for Katara, her life is anything but peaceful. After beginning her relationship with Aang after the war ended, she thought her life would be bliss as they worked together to maintain peace in the world. But she was wrong. Over time, her input grew less important, her impact wasn't needed, and people brushed her to the side and labeled her the "Avatar's girl." Her legacy and impact of what part she played in the role was already being diminished. The worst part? Aang was completely fine with it. Caught in a mental turmoil, Katara agrees to be sent to the Fire Nation to help settle a small dispute that erupted between the Southern Water Tribe and the Fire Nation. There, she sees Zuko, now Fire Lord Zuko, whom she had only seen sporadically since their fight against Azula. At first, she believes he feels the same about her that the others do, but Katara quickly realizes that his life as Fire Lord has been far from easy, and he's been fighting his own solitary battles. The two reignite their old friendship, but as their friendship kindles, an unresolved spark that never faded from their past threatens to surface once more. This ship has single-handedly made me rise from the dead of my fanfic days to write a fanfic about these two. Jeez.

It has been 10 years since the end of The Hundred Year War, ten years since Aang left her. Katara now finds herself in an unlikely pair with a melancholy Fire Lord while navigating life in Republic City. Excerpt: "Zuko stop!" she begged. He did not, he continued to nudge and press for an answer. Katara began to feel like the floor was slipping from under her. The room was no longer still and she was growing increasingly dizzy. She grabbed on to a column to steady herself. Zuko rushed to her side, bracing her against his warm body. Their eyes met briefly and Zuko found the answer he had been searching for.

When Aang was shot down and claimed to be dead... Another had fallen and was also claimed dead, accept he was really dead. Prince zuko. When the gaang finds out the tragic death of the prince of the fire nations murder they almost seem to feel it's unreal, the boy that have hunted them will never bother them again... They all feel different about it, guilt, confused, even the thought of zuko not deserving it, but also anger yet relief... That's until one of them runs into the blue spirit and finds out a dark secret that only one other knows of. "Zuko?"

After Ba Sing Se Katara hated Zuko right? What if Katara and Zuko formed an alligance without anyone knowing and made it seem like Zuko betrayed Katara? What if they both snuck out as spirits to exchange information? What if Zuko was late to the meeting point on the Day of Black Sun? Walking away from the girl that used to be his peace and seeing his throne slip from his fingers has left Zuko resentful and hurt. If this was his rock bottom, he wasn't sure there was any climbing up. With fire quickly breathing down his neck the banished Prince must decide who he wants to be before the choice is made for him. Everything the Fire Lord worked so hard for was steadily being destroyed by a little girl. One son was a failure, his only brother a traitor, the Avatar a threat and Aelita Kenshin a problem he should've dealt with long ago. After Ba Sing Se, Zuko has a change of heart and fakes his death. He travels saving Fire Nation villages as the Blue Spirit. On one of his travels he encounters the Painted Lady. The two, both believed to be dead, now work together to save the nation from the inside. Romance blooms but danger causes Katara to run, with two extra packages. 15 years later and an unlikely encounter on Ember Island causes a whole lot of drama. OR Zuko becomes competent at handling angsty teenagers and realises... he's becoming his uncle.

Ever since Katara got her memory back, she's hated Zuko. And who wouldn't? After all, he lied to her and used her, or so she thinks... But now a new element has arrived, in the form of Twila, a girl from a place that shouldn't exist: a sea of ice between the poles. She says her people are descended from the ancient Spirits, before the time of benders and humanity. But what does she want with Katara and Zuko? What is this Prophecy she speaks of? And who will survive, when the world is at stake?

Considering how much potential Zuko and Katara had as a couple, I will try to take over and over-write the story as if they were the main couple, as it should've been. Zuko, being fully focused on trying to befriend the Avatar and his friends, had gotten over his breakup with Mei almost entirely. After Mei had saved Zuko and the rest at the boiling prison, is when he completely lets go of Mei, only leaving good thoughts about her behind. He actually realized right then and there that he hadn't thought about her up until they met. But that wasn't what surprised him, It was the fact that all that time the only person he had in mind was Katara, and how to make her stop hating him. But on the other hand, Mei hadn't let go of Zuko, she still thought that the letter he had left was unreasonable, so she stayed in denial, thinking that her and Zuko still had a chance. This story will contain Smut and I will try not to modernize the story, and have it stay traditional; with some sorts of fighting scenes. In the ensuing weeks after the end of the war, and the coronation of Fire Lord Zuko, the Avatar has many places to be to reconcile the damages, and Katara stays behind to fully heal her newly scarred hero.

Ever wondered what could've happened if Zuko and Katara ended up together? Let's see how these two navigate their alternate paths towards each other. After all, fire & water make steam 😉 *I claim no rights to the characters in this fan fiction. The characters are from "Avatar: The Last Airbender" and I am just writing an alternate transformative ending for fun. This is non-commercial and written for me and my fellow Zutara fans to enjoy. Zutara happens!!! Here is my version of what the rest of the Avatar the Last Airbender would look like if Zutara actually happened. I start from the Agni Kai between Azula and Zuko and we just go from there. I just want to add, I made the effects of Zuko's lightning wound a lot worse than they were portrayed in the show, since I feel like, even though he did get healed by Katara, his reactions and recovery time were very unrealistic (that's probably just me though). I also came up with some new concepts that have to do with Chi and the Spirit World, so hopefully they work with the story and the rest of the Avatar Universe. Enjoy!! :D Also I just saw this picture online and I thought it would make a cool cover since it is basically what my story is about.
