From birth, Gaara was a project of the Sand Village - overseen by his father, the Fourth Kazekage - to possess a powerful weapon that would give them an advantage in their wars against other hidden villages. This weapon was a beast of immense power sealed within Gaara's body: the One-Tailed Beast (Shikaku). His mother died when he was an infant, and his father decided that Gaara's existence was more of a danger than a benefit to the village, so he ordered his execution. Afterward, Gaara became a tyrannical beast with no friends, feared by all. He possessed a beast, but he transformed into a cold and distant figure, tattooing the word "love" (爱) on his forehead, living only for himself. However, events take a turn when Gaara meets a girl who is tasked with protecting him. She becomes Kyomi, standing by Gaara's side during his missions and his reign. He falls in love with her, transforming his life from a harsh and cold beast into someone who falls in love with her. He becomes the Fifth Kazekage, but this girl is tasked with protecting him because of the One-Tailed Beast sealed within him. The Sand Demons want to unleash the monster Shukaku to conquer the Sand Village, but Gaara and the girl are tasked with protecting the village and the Kazekage.
