"Why didn't you tell me?"
"So you know now" she replied, her countenance full of sorrow.
"I trusted you and you said I wasn't a kieren!" Eli said as tears started to form.
Abigail reached for his face but he quickly swatted it away.
"My feelings for you are real Eli, you have to believe me" she said as she hiccuped sobs.
"Your feelings! What about mines? All my life I've lived here and not once did anyone tell me the truth. Not once!" he said steadily raising his voice, as the tears came trickling down. "I don't belong around people like you. I don't belong in Drakan!"
Abigail hid her face behind her hands as Eli stood and watched her tears escape her palms.
"If you leave they will kill you" she said through cupped hands.
"If that were true, then he should have died a long time ago"
