People have many ways of coping with stress and anxiety. Dancing, Singing, drawing, Writing, Painting, drugs. Some habits are healthier than others. Her stress mechanism is running. Physically running away if she feels uncomfortable. If she doesn't  want to be there, she will run. 

It's her escape from everything reality has to throw at her. 

Don't stop running. If you stop,  unwanted things will catch up.
