Although the exact date of the apocalypse is uncertain, the day that it reached Grayville was not hard to determine. It was the 5th of June—or, to be more exact, a Tuesday—and the year I'm sure I do not need to mention, for it is quite obvious on its own. The timing, however, was miraculous, and I do not speak for the residents of Grayville. The unmentionables struck at precisely the right hour, when everyone was asleep and unaware of anything unholy—which, unfortunately, was exactly what they were. A clear example is poor, 4-year-old Jessica Kay, who was among the very first to become part of Hell's army. Her mess of tangled brunette hair made a ball around her tiny head as she made a small, inhuman roar, signaling the remaining unmentionables' attack.
