Hallie Bellamy is sick of love.

Her boyfriend only just cheated on her, and it's been a year since her mother left her deadbeat father for a new, shiny business man with whom she’s composing a slapdash wedding ceremony that’s to take place any day now. Even the idea of love stresses her out, which is why she’s infuriated that Valentine’s Day is quickly approaching, all with the daunting task of the match maker survey. Every year, students must fill out a survey to which they’ll be matched based on compatibility and they must attend the Valentine’s Day dance together.

But when Hallie’s match turns out to be Cole Farrow, a reckless and carefree boy with a secretive personal life, Hallie has to fulfill the requirements and go on a single date with him—but with the dance approaching, she learns things about Cole that no one ever has, and secrets are surfaced about everyone that shouldn’t have to see the light of day, as well as her desperate boyfriend trying to win her back. With so many complications, perhaps things were just not in her favor.
