Often my kids sit with headphones attached and miss what's happening around them, a very lonely way to be.
I sometimes feels like I am not here, but just observing.

"Now that I know what makes you tick.." He said walking over to me. "I know how to make you listen to me." He brushed my hair behind my ears. Damn it. This is what I was afraid of. Showing too much emotion has caused him to see my weakness. "Don't touch me" I slapped his hand away. "You're gonna need to learn how to control that attitude of yours princess." Cole smiled turning around and going into the bathroom. ----------- With the tragic passing of her mother, Emily was sent away into the foster care system. She lives every day wanting an escape. While in jail, she meets a young boy, they develop a friendship that turns into something more. By her 18th birthday instead of a trial and the execution she's been waiting for she gets a whole lot more. This is a fully done story that is 35 ch, exactly 128,210 words.
