Elena McAllister Cullen was barely twenty when she was saved by Carlisle, along with her twin Emmett. All they had growing up was each other. An alcoholic mother and a father who had walked out on them when they were five. Elena and Emmett raised each other, and protected each other. Times were rough back then, the 1920's weren't too bad, they were mere teenagers just trying to have some fun, the 30's was another story. The first World War and the Great Depression, the death of their mother, the constant threat of illness, the 1930's is what killed them.

It'd been years since then, but the two typically stuck together, only Emmett had Rosalie now. Elena was never allowed out to roam amongst the people, she's a tracker, she wouldn't be able to contain herself. Well, there was a time when she could walk amongst them, but Edward had conned her into killing someone, to rebel against Carlisle, and she didn't stop after the first, she couldn't. That ended going out to where people were for her. It wasn't only Carlisle's rule, but the Volturi had said so as well. Elena never found her mate, and she gave up on the fact that she could even have one again.

She had vowed that until she had, she would be her brother's keeper.
