This is a dialogue only romance short story for a contest I'm entering. This takes place in dystopian Earth in the future (technically the kingdom of Lyghtia from my story "Crystal Shards") and is between Charlotte and Isaac. It is a twist or adaptation of Rapunzel. But Ada Alexander struggles to keep her emotions hidden and she discovers more and more feelings that most humans have forgotten long ago, love, grief, anger, pain and fear. When the system glitches and she is able to cry for the first time ever, she feels tricked and robbed by the government, becomes inspired and develops a revolutionary plan to break the system so people can feel once again, and her family worries for her life. Child, tuck yourself in bed, Let me tell a story, Of Lemuria, a kingdom past, And a girl born for glory. Lost from our world came she, Treachery gave close chase, She raised her sword and flew, For she feared not the race. Three long lost lights to save, A mad queen to defeat, The journey would transform her, Her destiny to meet. The path home tragic and faint. Beware the night, Child of Light. ******************************** For such an epic fairy tale, i was saddened that it was only in a video game form. What about the book readers? what about the children who could not afford the game itself? Therefore I decided to be a narrator, to write one, a fan fiction (retaining the rhyming style in my writing) for all those who did not know about such a story; children, adults, and all who still have the child's heart within (him/her)self. Over the Rainbow
This started as an entry for the Open Novella Contest, 2022. Unfortunately, I was having some medical difficulties (which I won't bore you with) and felt I needed to drop out after the first deadline. Shortly after taking up the story again, I realized that I was writing the same characters as those in my previous entry (ONC 2020), Thirteen Points of Light. So I did some quick editing and continued the story of Sarah and her box of magic matches. I'm trying really hard to make this a stand-alone story, but because I know the original story so well, I'm not entirely sure this one stands by itself. If you haven't yet, you may want to start with Thirteen Points and read them together as a single story. The story (this time around): Jared and Crystal's relationship is getting rocky.
