Prologue

"Mother what's that?" came a sweet soft spoken voice from under the table. The toddler had been fiddling with her mother's closet once again only to find an old box glazed with dust at the far corner of the lowest drawer. Looking up from her reading, the elegant fae drew a slight frown as her daughter started rummaging through her old things. It had been five years since last she'd seen her beloved William, and as often as she thought of him, she didn't want her daughter to fall in with the life of an outcast. In her attempt to protect Marie she had rendered all the stories of her adventures with Jack, the Black Pearl and the others a mere fairytale. Walking up to the little girl with soft chestnut curls and a pastel blue night dress she raised her from the ground with a snug embrace" Oh what have you gotten there?" Walking over to the elegantly engraved mahogany queen sized bed she sat at its side cross-legged; Marie in the nest formed in her lap.

The key was long lost, its contents but a mere memory, oh how she longed for adventure once again..the sweet scent of the sea, its melodious liquid voice splashing about the hull of the Black Pearl..Yes she longed for life on the open sea..If only things had been different.

Soulful eyes fell upon the young girl who traced delicate fingertips across the woven vine engravings along the edges before poking the indent where the key was supposed to be. "Where's the key?"

With a sad smile Elizabeth Turner just hugged the child, orbs glinting with mischief "The pirate's stole it!" she then blew a raspberry on the girl's stomach ringing out a sweet comical high pitch squeal of a laugh. Quickly squeezing her way out of her mother's grasp Marie dove into the fluffy blankets appearing on the opposite end holding out her right arm as if it were a sword. " On-ga!" she squealed as she folded her left arm at her waist. With a bitter sweet feeling within her heavy chest she charged.

"...Something's will never change..."

"C'mon, admit it for once Writt, you are an undeniable virgin." He scoffed. "Why do you care so much if I am or not?" She challenged him. He hesitated. But not for long. "I don't. I just like watching you squirm." "Oh that's a hobby of yours? Making girls squirm in agony of having to speak to you?" She was so fed up with him. "Well..." He mumbled, walking to an old portrait and running his finger along the dusty rim of it, "Making them squirm, period, is a particular interest of mine." "You're pathetic." She barked. He walked up to her, a few feet away from her body. "Say that again..." He hummed, in a faint whisper. "You're. Pathetic." She sharply cursed. He smirked, devilishly. "No Writt," Cas stepped into her space, nose inches away from hers, he took his right hand and dragged it up her thigh, "Virgins... are pathetic." He finished the sentence at her hipbone. Lily's breath caught as he ran it up her leg, she didn't like physical touch. From anyone. So why on Marine, did it feel so good, so right, when he did?

I woke up in a daze, unsure of why my body felt so stiff, so sore. I winced as I threw my legs over the side of the bed, and again as I stood up, pain flaring from every muscle in my body as I made my way to the polished mirror beside my wardrobe. I gasped at the sight of the bruised and battered girl in front of me. The memories from last night flooded my mind. It was my birthday. Father had invited several high class guests to the event. He expected me to begin courting. The man he had introduced me to was a plump old man. I had refused adamantly, his years against my fourteen churned my stomach. Unfortunately, my father didn't take my refusal well. He grabbed me by the arm roughly and dragged me into the attic-my bedroom. His beatings were getting worse. At least the last time i t hadn't taken much effort to hide the pain. This time that wouldn't be possible. This time, there would be no hiding it. This time the pain was too much. I whimpered as I headed to the door, but it was locked. It seems my father had predicted my state. Rage and anger burned through my veins as I slammed my fist against the door. One day I would learn to defend myself. One day I would escape this wretched castle. One day I would no longer be bound by the Caspian people. One day I will no longer be their princess. "I will get away from here, and you will pay for what you've done old man." I vowed before slamming my fist against the door again. "I will be free." I huffed as I crawled back into the bed for some much needed rest.
