Carlotta Summers, otherwise known as Lottie, is in a fix. She's moved out from the Shelter she was living at, and trying to find a job. Soon, the 15-year-old girl stumbles upon a small animal shelter-Paws for Life- and becomes a paid volunteer. As she returns home one night, she notices a stray hanging around the front of her small house. She feeds the dog, dubbed Joyanna, and lets her spend the night. After a week of appearing, the dog dissapears. Lottie soon finds her at the same shelter she works at, but a man has claimed that Joyanna is his dog-and Lottie fears for Joy's life. Follow their story of friendship, love, heartbreak, and happy returns.
