"Let your heart be your guiding key."
Worlds for quite some time have been nothing but a distant memory, many of which being reduced to dust. Many brave heroes have attempted to thwart evil for many, many generations but no avail. After Kingdom Hearts had been locked away and Organization XIII reduced to nothing, the heroes of the light returned to their normal lives as they anticipated. However, for those who lurked within the shadows never had the opportunity to live that life after being forgotten, neglected and afraid.

For {reader}, she had lived a troubled life where she drowned her sorrows in a game series called "Kingdom Hearts". It was her solace and never would she expect to be part of what could be the biggest war between reality and imagination. The shadows had a plan to disturb peace and ideally, [reader] with the help of her comrades, would put an end to what the Foretellers of Light once feared. This was no longer a game and if there had been one misstep, there would never be:"Would you like to continue?"

The Greylands: Modern Edition by SusanSkylark
1 part Complete
A land of shadows, of mystery, of obfuscated Truth. Welcome to the Greylands, that strange world, within the bounds of Time, peopled by mortal men. We cannot see truly, only as through a glass, darkly. There are things that move and have their being completely beyond our ability to perceive them. There are things beyond our mortal ability to comprehend. There are hints and glimmers hidden within the body of revealed Truth, but there is much we do not know, cannot yet understand, and could never dare dream. These stories are mere fancy, with a seed of Truth at their core. They play with the ideas of mortality and Eternity, Time and things beyond it, and of course the epic battle of Good against Evil. Each stands alone, and though there are common themes, threads, names, and concepts, each story is an entity unto itself and should not be seen as occurring in the same world or mistaken for installments of a series. These are random musings, not Gospel Truth, and should not be taken as such. Joy, hope, and encouragement are hopefully a byproduct, but certainly not sound Theology. If you would know more of the true world beyond these Greylands, one must be a careful student of the Scriptures, not of silly stories such as these. While still fairytales, these stories are set in modern surroundings rather than the land of Faerie! Each story is unique unto itself, and doesn't reference any other story, world or character elsewhere.

The last time Kaia saw her mother, she was nothing more than a pale shadow of the vibrant woman who had once been the heart of their kingdom. Her mother's breath came in shallow, labored gasps, the sickness claiming her slowly, piece by piece. But it was the words her mother spoke before her final breath that Kaia would carry with her forever. "The world is not as it seems, my love. Trust in yourself. Trust in the wind." Kaia didn't understand them then, but she would-soon enough. Her kingdom, once a land of magic and power, was falling apart. In the days before, the whispers had started. The sound of the earth, the wind, and the water; forces long ignored were now seen as a threat. Whisperers, beings like Kaia, who could bend the elements to their will, were hunted, sold, and killed like animals. But the true collapse of everything came after her mother's death. Her father, once a proud ruler, crumbled under the weight of his own guilt. And Kaia, filled with grief and rage, ran. She couldn't bear to stay any longer, not in the ashes of a kingdom that no longer cared for its people-or its whisperers. It was in her flight that she was taken. Abducted by the Rahibils, the hunters of the unspoken kind, who dealt in stolen souls. And in that dark, suffocating world of cages and chains, she met Reez-a stranger with eyes as sharp as the blade he wielded, and a heart hardened by the same cruel fate. They would be each other's strength in the days to come, as they plotted escape, and as Kaia learned the true meaning of freedom. But freedom, she would soon learn, came at a price higher than she could have ever imagined. The world was not as it seemed. She would find out soon enough just how deep the darkness went, and how far she was willing to go to uncover the truth. But only if she doesn't get herself killed first.
