Cecily Mallory likes to tell herself that she doesn't make mistakes. Doesn't slip up. She is the legendary menace of all of Araelia, the renowned heartless assassin after all. Her every thought was ruled with meticulous precision and impeccability... so everyone thought. However, just because everyone believes it, doesn't make it a reality. Much to the disbelief of some conspiracy theorists, Cecily is in fact human and can be prone to general clumsiness, miscalculations, and impulsive actions. Luckily enough for her, every mistake she has made has only been seen by her closest friends, but what happens when a single mistake catches an unwanted eye? I suppose you'll just have to read to find out...

Authors Note: So this was originally a school project that I had to do and after some brief editing was able to convince myself to post it on here because why not. There is a chance that I may decide to create a deeper plot and turn this into an actual novel but for now it is simply a one chapter short story that I hope you will all enjoy reading :).

"This is an Angel girl named Maisie Lark. She hasn't ever stepped foot into the 'real world'. Attempting to break the lock is useless and I have the key. I've extended the olive branch. Maisie's your motive. Come find me when you're ready." Cecilia Star has been alive long enough to know what it's like to be a demon in the human realm, but she's also been alive long enough to cope with her everyday life. But when she wakes up handcuffed to a strange Angel she's never met before, she's thrown for a loop. Cecilia assumes it's all just one big, extremely cruel prank by the twins in order to rile her up and test her limits. After all, Maisie is everything that Cecilia would rather leave behind her, determined, opinionated, and so very clearly wrong. But it doesn't take Cecilia and Maisie long to realize that the handcuff prank is a little more than just a lighthearted joke. The thing about Demon metal is that it is a fickle thing. It can only be unlocked by the person who has the key and no matter what method is used, it cannot be broken. Cecilia would rather just forget the whole thing, refuse to give Ezekiel the satisfaction he so wants, and remain handcuffed to Maisie for the rest of her life. It doesn't take long to realize that it's just not possible. Maisie is everything that she shouldn't be in the human realm. Bigoted, rude, and annoyingly difficult. She can't even get close to Cecilia without making some sort of remark on how she can't stand Demons. As the time ticks down and options become less and less, maybe being handcuffed to each other will teach Cecilia and Maisie a thing or two about themselves. Maybe running from the past isn't the right choice and perhaps, maybe even a Demon and Angel could fall in love too. (Entered in the Open Novella Contest 2022 under prompt 79. Published: 10-April-2020 Prologue: "He was an old man, probably died on his own. Did the letter say that he was killed?" I was asked. When I heard what had been said, my face turned yellow. Something I had been blind to suddenly became so clear. I had mentioned visiting that man, but i never mentioned that he was killed. Nor did I mention receiving a letter. "How did you know he died?" I asked. "You told me, silly." "No I didn't. And I never said anything about a letter." I said firmly. Emma fell asleep on the plane and woke up in a mythical kingdom. The place was spoken about in legends and myths only, but it doesn't exist on any map. While trying to open the passage between the realms, she meets a man who might be able to change her mind about leaving. However, she keeps getting threats from an unknown stalker who kills her loved ones one by one. But would returning to her home end her problems, or would the stalker still torment her?
