You're at a diner and you overhear the following snatch of conversation.
"Well despite the fact that you're not of this world, it appears you eat like the rest of us."eyebrow at "Who says I'm not of this world?"
"Well, you're not exactly human."
"I am an Empyrean. My kind have been on this earth long enough to call this home now."
This is Raphael's first disclosure to Penny as to who he is in my YA Novel, "BLACK WING." and Penny's hopes to escape from her dull and claustrophobic world might just be possible with his help, for Raphael is more commonly known as an angel. With one exception: He's an angel who's come out of retirement with unfinished business. Very dangerous business.

Under Raphael's watchful eye, Penny enters a world full of demons, dark creatures, and corrupted humans in league with a fearful race known as, "The Cattivi." Their objective is to bring about the end of days. Why do they see Penny as a threat to their plans? Who is this "Black Wing," they speak of, and how does Raphael fit into this? The answers will have more bearing on Penny's future than she could ever imagine. She'll have to fight for her friends, her loved ones, while struggling to maintain her sanity and a somewhat normal life. Most importantly, she'll have to fight to discover who she really is.
