It's been nine years since Marisa had gone to her upmost favourite place: the beach. Since they were little she and her brother Dale had spent their time learning every crack and groove marking Black Rock Beach, and returning there brought back all their memories. However, one very prominent memory stands out, which was not being allowed to windsurf due to their young age. But now that they're both sixteen, they're finally ready for the job. After a terrible storm, Marisa is swept away to an unknown island, where she is surprised to discover is inhabited by villagers. There Marisa meets Rafael, a boy to which he claims himself a pirate, though obviously has quite a few flaws. Marisa is determined to get herself home, discovering the eery secret held by the village people inhabiting the island, and the history behind Rafael's confident mask.
