Princess Clara Wolfen and her maid Jordyn Kale have been best friends for as long as anyone could remember. Clara is always getting into some sort of mischief and bringing Jordyn along with her.

However, things go awry when the girls end up captured by the country their own is at war with. To protect their lives and their people, they both must lie about their identities. Plucked from their previous lifestyle, the girls now must fight for each other and their home.

Prince Sebestian East is next in line for the throne of Duende. Raised by a cruel father and no mother, he only knows cruelty and anger. His heart has no room for compassion or love. His only friend, whom Sebestian deems his brother, is his guard, Damien Waters.

He's just as cruel as the Prince himself. Abandoned by his parents as a baby and taken in by the king's knights, he has been trained to kill since birth.

However, things begin to get even more complicated when the Princess and her maid arrive at the Duende palace. Both girls are determined to protect each other and their people and falling in love was not a part of the plan, especially when the men they fall for, are already betrothed and the road to romance has been no more than cruel.

As the war worsens, Clara and Jordyn need to find a way back home. Although, that's easier said than done when their lives and hearts are on the line. Love is never easy, but when it can kill you, it's a whole new game.
