Merudoxin. Hearing that word should have made everyone grimace at the thought. It should have filled their body with pure anger to see women everywhere rave about the new drug; to see its name plastered all over the news. They told us it would make labour painless. They told us it would revolutionize childbirth. The only thing left to do was to test it. On us. Women everywhere were lining up at their local hospitals just waiting to get a taste of the drug. Conceitedly, they signed their names. Everyone was hoping the medicine would work. It was to be a major science breakthrough! But no one ever promised that the babies wouldn't get hurt. No one seemed to care about the endangerment of their lives. That's where I came in. A voice for the voiceless. I would never let a life be wasted, even if my own life became at risk. **Sneak Preview** The doctor took the baby in his hands and took a look himself. I heard him take a sharp intake of breath. "Bloody hell!" he exclaimed. "What should we do with her?" the surgeon asked. "We're going to have to get rid of it" he announced simply. I whipped my head towards Arturo. I began getting up, trying to end this tyranny but Arturo held me back and that's when I remembered where we were, who I was carrying inside me. I cried quietly as I watched the woman scream and whimper as she realised the fate of her child. And the fate of herself. The surgeon wheeled her inside a door followed by the Doctor with the baby. "You can't do this to us! Give me my baby!" she sobbed helplessly until she said in a quiet voice, "Let me hold her once". The doors closed before I could see if they fulfilled her last wish. That's the last I saw of her and her daughter. Hope you enjoy, fishies! Copyright Restricted

This is a second view point from my original story - A Different Virus - Heartfire. I highly advise reading the original book first. Intro: Laura was a happy child without a care in the world. She loved her parents and life was perfect. Nothing seemed like it could go wrong. People started talking about a bad flu that was spreading and sending some into a coma. Her parents grew worried and stocked the house in case of a pandemic. Months later another virus appeared. Her family was shocked when the news people started reporting that zombies were actually real and not just part of a horror movie. They were appearing in every country. Her parents reassured her that none of the zombie sightings had been anywhere close to them. Her life is turned upside down when her father ends up in hospital with the bad flu and mother exiles her upstairs for her safety. She was never allowed downstairs again. Weeks pass and the streets become deserted with the exception of the red eyed zombies that wandered around. One night she notices a swiftly moving figure with glowing blue eyes in the street below. Should she call out or remain silent? Is this fleeting shadow something that can help her or could this mysterious figure be even more dangerous than the zombies themselves? ---------------------- Ranked #1 Apr 10, 2018 (A huge thank you to all who read and voted!) This story is copyright and built from my own imagination. This book was a special request from someone who helped me a lot. This viewpoint has less action than the original. The cover was made by @All_AboutAssymetry. A huge thanks to her! Copyright September 2016. All Rights Reserved. Readers may not copy, alter, or steal this story. The year is 2096. Computers, and other recognition software with them, have grown infinitely more powerful since the 2010s. Business is thriving. People are running about, living their lives, and generally enjoying themselves with their new 'smart' devices, which, for better or for worse, are actually living up to their name. Finally. Enter outcast Vincent Schorennherr. Her parents [emphasis on her] parents wanted a boy, no luck on that account, and they let her know that every day. You think that's not so bad? Think again. "Sorry, Vincent, but you're going to school anyways, flu or no flu." Well, just before first period, a 'conveniently'-timed password-entry prompt pops on on her phone screen, right as she: 1) Presses the sensor, and 2): sneezes, spreading rhinoviruses all over herself and her phone. She wipes the phone off and goes to class, thinking nothing more of the incident until the next day, when she goes to turn it on and gets a kill screen: "Fatal Error 81-141. The flu's contagious, didn't you know that? Bye now, gone to play Caesar- Veni, vidi, vici and all that." With that, her phone blinks off, and within hours, other phones begin to follow suit. With panic on the rise, and global tensions rapidly following suit, can Vincent and her friends find the cure before it's hard shutdown? **NaNoWriMo 2017** Complete in the sense that I'll probably never write any more of this story. I might edit it someday, though. I had a decent idea when I started, but that quickly went out the window.

(Book Two of Experiment Number 7218. Do not read this summary or book if you have not read Book One) I listen closely through the static on the radio, trying to hear the emergency broadcasting message. An electronic voice repeated over and over, "This message is transmitted to you through the North Carolina Police Department. It is advised to stay indoors and to remain inside if at all possible. Have enough food for one to two weeks. Do not come in contact with anyone outside of your household. This message is transmitted to you through the North Carolina Police Department." I scoff to myself. I know this will not be over in a mere two weeks. - - - - - Terminar; The Latin word for Terminate. Definition: To bring to an end. Brittany Slater was free. She had finally escaped the island that she now calls Hell. But there were so many loose ends. Why had her father destroyed all of his research? His factory? His life's work? Why had he given her a chance to live? Well, she got her answer. Upon arriving to North Carolina, she was thrown right back into Hell on Earth. Grounders, Savages, what were once innocent people, they now all roam free. Her father told her the Experiment was over, and he was right. It was time for the Project to begin. To take effect. And no one could stop him. He'd turned the world into a pyramid, and he put himself and his own government on top. He'd activated Project Terminar. Every story has a beginning, a middle, and an end. Our main characters Journey starts in isolation, and pain. Guard your hearts as you delve deeper into the conspiracy our main character has unknowingly been born into. Brace yourselves for the roller coaster ride that is her life, and above all else hold on to the hope that our main character will make it to the end of her journey completely sane. "My book is nonfiction, and it's a hundred pages. It's about a young woman taken at birth by hunters for experimentation. The main character has a past she doesn't remember, and a power she has no knowledge of. My book has elements of mythical creatures, reincarnation, and violence. It's about my Main character, and her struggle to survive. And if she's lucky, the past doesn't repeat itself." -ALA Please leave constructive criticism, I can take it
