Daphne Hale is the one girl that always gets everything wrong. Her mother always pressuring her to act like her, she isn't pretty enough for her mother, or her father for that fact. Her parents want her to be successful and rich like them. Daphne doesn't want to be like her parents, but with all three of her brothers in France in 1941, she does everything she can to help the US army. 

On her way to Los Angeles, California she meets Captain Robert Woodly. She is charmed by his charisma but doesn't show any interest. But then Daphne finds out that he is friends her with best friends husband who is staying where she is staying. She figures that he is a guns man, but he is actually a pilot for the US air-force.
 
With confusion and her parents wrath, what will happen when she finds out the truth behind this man that she is starting to grow on. But when he goes back to war, she gets upset when he starts falling for her, she isn't ready for the consequences of loving someone who has a chance of dying every time he gets in his plane.
