IS LIFE WORTH LIVING IF YOU LIVE FOR TECHNOLOGY?

TIB, the most advanced AI system to date has built and maintained a flourishing city in the mountains of Colorado.
Its citizens have no memory of their life before. Nor hope for time after.

But is life worth living if you live for a single technological system?

When Veris and Foster, two young and naive citizens are freed of their mental bonds by a team of scientists led by a mysterious woman woman, can they adapt to themselves and each other in time before TIB catches them and puts an end to this useless attempt at freeing the people of the city?
Are humans truly strong enough, or will computers take over?

There are more threats out here than we anticipated, and they're all after you-" Lukas' voice erupted into static and chunks... I glared at the man in all black as the light continued to beam and blind me. Without my glasses it was actually painful. And then there was silence. My bare feet hit the metal floor of wherever we had jumped to, and I put my hand up to shield my eyes from the vicious attack of bright light. Not again." Alexi Callidus is living in a post-apocalyptic world... In the 25th Century. The year is 2470. She's been surviving on her own for 4 years and 8 months inside the same building with her only companion without seeing the sun. 5 years after the brutal unexplained murder of her family. 7 years after the genetic disaster of "GASP". 7 years and 4 months after the War of Nations. This is a second view point from my original story - A Different Virus - Heartfire. I highly advise reading the original book first. Intro: Laura was a happy child without a care in the world. She loved her parents and life was perfect. Nothing seemed like it could go wrong. People started talking about a bad flu that was spreading and sending some into a coma. Her parents grew worried and stocked the house in case of a pandemic. Months later another virus appeared. Her family was shocked when the news people started reporting that zombies were actually real and not just part of a horror movie. They were appearing in every country. Her parents reassured her that none of the zombie sightings had been anywhere close to them. Her life is turned upside down when her father ends up in hospital with the bad flu and mother exiles her upstairs for her safety. She was never allowed downstairs again. Weeks pass and the streets become deserted with the exception of the red eyed zombies that wandered around. One night she notices a swiftly moving figure with glowing blue eyes in the street below. Should she call out or remain silent? Is this fleeting shadow something that can help her or could this mysterious figure be even more dangerous than the zombies themselves? ---------------------- Ranked #1 Apr 10, 2018 (A huge thank you to all who read and voted!) This story is copyright and built from my own imagination. This book was a special request from someone who helped me a lot. This viewpoint has less action than the original. The cover was made by @All_AboutAssymetry. A huge thanks to her! Copyright September 2016. All Rights Reserved. Readers may not copy, alter, or steal this story. It's been five years since the plague struck. Leah knows there are other survivors, but she's avoiding them. She is doing just fine on her own. Surviving after everyone she knew died has made her physically strong and honed her intelligence, but she is emotionally devastated. There is nothing to fear if you don't make yourself emotionally vulnerable. James has spent the last five years helping to build up a colony of survivors. He believes in the small town they have populated and its mission to save humanity from extinction. He and his small team of men find scattered people and bring them in. Over the last two centuries, women have fought for and won more and more rights, gaining equality with men. Society, law, and technology bolsters and enforces these rights, but now they are gone. Women's equality with men is over. There are just too few of them. They aren't lesser but greater, more important, more valuable than men. Men are expendable. Men can stay outside alone if they like, but all women must be brought inside the safety of the Colony and properly taken care of. James has been searching the area Leah lives in. Her time of solitude is up. Leah sparks something in James he's never felt before. He's not letting this one get away, certainly not twice. Warning: Contains sex, some violence, occasional foul language, and adult issues. Genre: Science Fiction, Romance, Post-apocalyptic, Dark romance Length: 84,468 words This book has been published on Amazon. The first ten chapters will be updated to what you get in the published novel and will remain here, so you can try before you buy.

Britain is in a state of national emergency. But it's not why you might think. Forget nuclear war, abject poverty or mass unemployment. Britain teeters on the brink of collapse because of the waistlines of its inhabitants. The numbers have been crunched, the charts have been projected and the data is in. If Britain continues at its current rate it will be bankrupt by this time next year, crushed under a health crisis no one saw coming. So what to do? A government seeking re-election, a weak opposition, an obese population and a surgeon who seeks immortality through his work are the ingredients for a disastrous cocktail that will see the nation descend into shame. Fat people aren't just unwelcome ... they are illegal. 252lb is a dystopian novel that looks at what happens when a population turns on its own people. Told through the lives of eight characters, it relates the story of how a civilised society sleepwalks into barbarism. The electorate is told the economy is broken because obese people are draining it with their illnesses. The answer is to force mandatory gastric surgery on anyone over 252lb. What begins as a voluntary process leads to dawn raids and arrests. The obese of this nation are put into camps to await brutal surgery to mend their broken bodies. Hundreds die, some are subject to appalling experiments in one man's bid to discover why humans are willing to eat themselves to death. 252lbs is a story of rebellion, heroism and personal ambition at its worst. But take heart: amidst the darkness there is a glimmer of light. It is also a story of a forbidden relationship and of new beginnings, when two people find each other against the odds and fall in love.
