Lyra has super running in her veins.
Supernatural, anyway. She and her family specialize in battling the real-life demons that normal people don't know about, and take pride in every job well done. However, after a horrifying case gone wrong, Lyra's father has decided they're done with the family business and moves Lyra to Ridgefield to start over.
When strange things start happening at Lyra's new school, she decides to take it into her own hands. She's a strong, capable girl, after all. Even though a certain group of cute guys distract her at every turn, she's still got this. Even if mean girl Jessica wants her gone, she'll stick around until the job is done. She's super like that.
But darker things than a single ghost are stirring in Ridgefield, and they won't rest.
  Welcome to the Whisper Chronicles.

Lyra Cinder is cast out from the Fort, the largest remaining training settlement for human mages outside of the Alliance. Without a killer extinct and far too much use of her conscience, she is of no use to the mages who have refused peace with their vampire neighbors. With a band of misfits and Fort rejects, Lyra sets out on a journey to find her place as well as a meaning to all of the fighting around her. It seems like a straight forward path until Lyra comes back from a supply run to find the boys have made sport of kicking around a stray vampire. Though she wishes to release him, the sharpness of his ice eyes cuts right into her soul even shackled and beaten on the ground. This stranger could just be the death of all of them, or perhaps he could be her destiny. When Lyra runs face first into the carnage caused by a notorious masked murder known only as The Fool, she is helpless to stop him from slaughtering the soldiers of the Zero rebellion. Though the Zero started as a vampire-hating group that threw society to the brink of extinction, most now are just humans run from their homes in times of war and desperate for shelter or food and willing to fight for it. The world is brittle and broken, and Lyra finds herself walking the same path as The Fool, whether it be breaking bread or chasing him down to stop his rampage. On that path, she meets allies, a man she loves even though their chances are slim, and she hopes that all of them can find a way to peace.

"I know you're a virgin but have you never been touched?" He asked, sliding his other hand down onto her leg. "What makes you say that?" Kat breathed, bracing her hands on the counter. "You react like someone who's never felt another's touch," Nex whispered, slipping his thumb under the band of her shorts. "So, have you not?" Kat opened her mouth to speak but stopped when his hand slid up from her leg, gliding up her stomach and stopping just below her breast. "Not even here?" He asked, following the curve of her breast with one finger, not touching, staying just below as he dragged it back and forth. "What about here?" He asked, sliding his hand down from her ribs to the bottom of her shorts then around to her butt, fingers nearly grazing it as he inched them up, under her pajamas. "I can say with certainty, never here," he said, lowering his other hand under the waistband of her shorts, touching the top of her underwear. "No, you've definitely never felt that before. I can hear your heart racing, I can feel your breathing, I can smell your body responding like it's never experienced these sensations before," he whispered, sliding a finger just underneath the band. "Should I answer its call?" #1 in demons on 6/15 -6/17/20! Again on 6/20 and 6/22-6/23! Sweet and innocent Katherine has a routine and is a little tightly wound. She was simply trying to rehearse lines for an audition. Next thing she knows, she's reading out loud her Latin lines and suddenly someone appears, claiming to be a demon she summoned to kill someone for her. Turns out demons can be hot. And he's getting pissed off she won't give him a name so he can kill and go home. The problem is, pissed off turns into something else and before he knows it, he wants to take away some of that innocence and loosen her up, or better yet, tie her up make her his. You die. Game over? Not quite. Welcome to the Afterlife Crucible. Every millennium, lost souls battle for a second shot at life. Forget everything you thought you knew about the afterlife. It's not pearly gates and harps - it's a ruthless gauntlet dreamed up by bored gods with a sick sense of humour. Your regrets become weapons, your sins are armour, and your secrets? Just ammo for your rivals. This is a no-holds-barred war where only the most devious spirits get to breathe again. You'll face nightmares that make Hell look like Disneyland, and opponents who'd sell their own mothers for a chance to win. Ready to fight for your life... after death? I sure as hell wasn't. There I was, barely keeping my head above water, when some prick decided to punch my ticket early. But let's face it - my chances of winning are slimmer than my ex's conscience. Who am I? Jane Doe. Just another dead girl in a sea of corpses... a junkie, a fuckup, a waste of oxygen. Or so I thought...
