Welcome to the wonderful world of writing on Wattpad! This is Wattpad, not the Olympics, so there's no need to panic. Anyone can try it, no training required. Writing doesn't have to be complicated, and you don't have to be a graduate of some fancy university, but there are a few guidelines that will make things easier for you and your readers. I have tips for beginners who paid as little attention in English as I did, as well as details on things I've learned over the years. Anyone can write a story. I never thought I would write anything, but I tried it and - much to my surprise - I found it very relaxing and entertaining. Feel free to skip around the chapters to find sections that interest you. You are also welcome to skim everything in case you find a hidden gem of advice. Please note that my writing tips follow the Chicago Manual of Style writing guide (you are free to use a different guide - keeping things consistent is the biggest thing).

Do you find yourself writing he nodded, she shook her head, he shrugged, over and over again? It gets tedious, and doesn't help at all when it comes to pin pointing your character's actual emotions. So I've made a book using notes I've been collecting over a few years to help you chose an alternative way to show that your character is angry, or sad, etc, plus many other writing tips and resources. Doesn't, he blinked at his watch, read better than, he looked at his watch ? Doesn't, he slugged across the wet cement, read better than, he walked down the street slowly. Avoid the white room in your story and replace telling with showing to give your readers a much better experience. **** When Alice storms across the room instead of walks, we know she's angry. We're expecting suspense. We're waiting for the next action. Maybe she'l punch a wall? Shout at her friend? Much better than, Alice walked across the room angrily, which gives your reader nothing to imagine.

Be aware, this book may both change your life for the better and unapologetically attack you on a personal level at the same time. Because how can you know what to fix if you didn't know what is broken? You can write. You can be a writer, novice or professional. And maybe you are simply failing in some way because nobody told you what-not-to-do yet. Let me tell you. Let me break you down and build you up so that you can succeed. But I can't help you if you don't let me. So give me that chance and read this from start to finish.
