This is a short piece of creative writing I did for an English assessment with the theme of success earlier this year. In it I tell the story of how I went against all expectations to pursue my unlikely passion for acting and drama, to achieve a person success that proved everyone wrong. Including ideas about the nature of success, defying the limits set by the perceptions of others and what makes a true actor. Riley and Devin by RoseAndBone

"How many romance books do you read?" Devin asks me. I shrug. "I like them," I say. I keep browsing, running my fingers along the spines. "So, you like romance then?" he asks me. I nod. "What's your favorite part of a love story?" "I like the very first kiss, but I like the second one even more," I say. I bite my lip and look at him. Oh. My. God. What the hell am I doing? Am I flirting? I think that I'm actually flirting. With Devin. Devin, my best friend. I have officially lost my mind. I should probably stop. But I can't seem to. "Will you grab me that one?" I ask. I point above my head, my back's pressed against the bookcase. He locks his gaze on mine and reaches over me to grab the book I asked for. "Thanks." I don't move and neither does he. Riley and Devin have been best friends forever-since Kindergarten. It's Senior year of high school, now. And it's always been simple, Riley's got his back, he's got hers. But as life goes on Riley can't help but wonder if maybe he's not just her best friend, if she likes him as possibly something more. As her feelings deepen and become something greater it becomes more evident that she's falling, really hard. No matter how hard Riley tries she can't stop falling, she can't stop from loving him. Even if it tears her to pieces or even if it destroys their friendship. Pretty soon Riley is going to have to choose between walking the safe line of friendship or taking the unpaved path of love. Will she risk everything for love?

Front Line by Julianna_Monroe

Being on the front line doesn't always mean facing the obvious, being on the front line can be as simple as facing life head-on with no clue where you're going. Life is as much of a front line in the wider perspective than the narrower of that of a battle, where the enemy is known and destination is everywhere but backwards. Therefore in life everyone has a story, this is no different. This story tells the story of Julianna Monroe (Name changed to hide/protect myself), and how even the simple things in life can alter the future in the most minute of ways. Not everything in life has to be all song and dance for it to be interesting and diverse, the story of Julianna's life will show and connect to those with lives just the same as hers who are not able to speak about their experiences. Her story begins when she is around 3-4 years old, just about to start the very first away-from-home experience children in the United Kingdom are encouraged to do. Nursery. Here kids just like Julianna are given the freedom and chance to explore outside of the home environment, without the feeling of an academic learning facility. Julianna is a child rather used to home comforts, so even at the beginning on the long road to get to where she is today, there are struggles and many points in at which she feels lost. However, despite all the minor stumbles on the bottom rung of this ladder, this is the start of an adventure, a journey to test everything Julianna is made of. Her story starts now...

When your parents were offered a once in a lifetime chance to send you to a high school and act as a 'test subject' they couldn't deny it, because you were promised free admission to any university of your choice and this way your parents knew they could afford giving you the chance to further your education.However there was a 'minor' catch to this deal, you will be sent out of your country of birth and to a boarding school that literally owns its own island and doesn't identify with any country in the world; this island isn't recognised on maps or on the Internet and is only called The International Seas, which is the named after the super secretive boarding school. But the real catch is that your going to be the only female on that island, due to the school being a boys only boarding school and all the staff are male as well.The school is made up of boys from all around the world who were hand chosen from birth to be an 'ideal' representation of their country once they had graduated training on the island; the aim was achieve world peace. However lately the staff have realised that there was a minor design fault in the education program; the boys haven't been exposed to a feminine presents since they left their families and countries when they were five, which means they are slightly afraid, overly fascinated and or unaware of the habits of the opposite gender.
