He had grown up with her. He didn't remember a time when she wasn't around. He knew for a long time that they weren't related by Blood, but why, oh why, did she have to choose that pathetic Birth Family of hers back in Hoshido? Nohr became even gloomier after she left, the clouds even darker. Camilla was always quiet, Elise never laughed anymore, Xander was always distant and was never seen. King Garon became horrid... Which led to Terrifying Abuse. Leo needed an escape. An escape from the Abuse, the Torment, the realization that his Sister Corrin was never coming back to him. And that escape lied deep within the Nohrian Mountains, within the towering body of a beast that many would call a monster.

She scowls. He smiles. She glowers. He laughs. She's cold. He's open. She hides with hate. He hides with jokes. Polar opposites. That doesn't stop them from loving each other. People say that some stars shine brighter than others. Leo Caldas knew that quote by heart. Being in a family of nine was hard. And he was the youngest. You would think, "Wow, the youngest? Lucky!" No. NOT lucky. Leo hated being the youngest. Not only was he bullied by his older siblings, he was shoved around like the middle child. His parents forgot he existed. They looked at him like, "Oh. He's still here." The worst part? They were divorced. Which meant he was always tossed around back and forth to each guardian, just waiting to be loved! His other siblings- might he add were ALWAYS given attention- had found their home. Some of his siblings stayed with his mother. And the rest stayed with his father. Both permanent. And Leo? He appreciates the concern. He went from place to place. He just couldn't find his home. What did he do to cope? He smiled. Instead of moping and sulking and doing what everyone else would have done, Leo Caldas smiled through it. It was all he knew how to do. "Pain is the best teacher". Jade Skai hated that quote with all her heart. Partly, because it was true. Pain was the best teacher. Fear coming in halfway. What was worse? When pain decided to side with fear and work together. She had felt both. Multiple times. And the feeling sucked. Jade was not your normal happy sunshiny girl. No. She was cold, having a snappy tongue and a heartless nature. That was her father's fault. Her mother had died when Jade was born. And it tore her father apart. He now sat at home. Drinking alcohol anytime she saw him. To add to the trauma, her father also beat her. Almost every night. For years since she turned ten. She was a very troubled girl. It wasn't her fault.

"BYLETH, YOU'RE DYING." Those were the words Byleth Eisner had heard her entire life...but it had never rang true. She had always known that the doctors were wrong, that she was going to keep living, but the fear of death was constant. Born with a heart that never beat, Byleth's life was constantly swamped with doctor's visits and frantic calls from the hospital. Byleth was just going about her normal day when a new face pops in at her workplace, the Eisner bar. His name is Claude von Riegan, a new bartender who has big dreams and hidden secrets. They hit it off right away. And for the first time, Byleth feels as if maybe life really is more than just waking up every day and going through the motions. For the first time in her life, the fear of death disappears from her mind. "BYLETH, YOU'RE DYING." These three words had echoed through Byleth's entire life...but this time, Byleth knew it was true. The doctors showed her screenings of something mutating on her heart. At most, she has one year to live, unless she can find a cure. Despairing about the unfairness of the situation, Byleth swears she will save herself. For her own sake, her life would continue on, especially now that she had become enlightened by Claude's presence. However, it doesn't take him long to figure out something is wrong with his new instructor. Claude promises to stand by her side, and help her. Inspired by this new hope, Byleth and Claude must race against time to find a cure before her clock runs out.
