**This story takes place after my previous story, "Here Comes the General" but you can read it on it's own too**
The colonies had just won the war against Britain and we're now setting up their new nation. Lafayette has gone back to France go convince them to revolt, and he promises Alex a souvenir. But when the Frenchman returns with an arrogant, pompous man by the name of Jefferson, Alex certainly hopes that Lafayette kept the receipt so they can send him back.
But with his wife and children gone and troubled times ahead, he finds that Jefferson, of all people best understands him.
