Aberrant
Wattys 2021 Short List. Shipwrecked on a criminal-infested mining colony, military telepath Reid Kaplan needs answers about the attack on his ship and the unusual alien activity on the planet he's stranded on. Unfortunately, some of those answers might lie in a mind as unique as it is dangerously flawed. Customs inspector Jinsin Koel is used to having guns pointed at her head - but not ones attached to weapon-heavy cyborg insects who consider her lower on the food chain. The Xykeree, past enemies of humanity, should never have been allowed to dock at her home port. And they're just the start of her problems. Throw in a hereditary neurological illness and a secret society of soldiers genetically tailored for psionic combat and she has herself a whole new level of trouble ... the kind that could destroy her personal foundations and imperil billions of lives. GENESIS: The Ascendance Protocol
(⚠️SUSPENDED INDEFINITELY) The Earth as it was no longer exists. What remains is a fragmented skybound world-vast floating landmasses suspended over an endless abyss of energy. The oceans have vanished, replaced by an enigmatic force beneath the remnants of civilization, an infinite power source that hums with untold secrets. Cities of gleaming spires and neon-lit corridors cling to these drifting continents, where the remnants of humanity thrive under a futuristic society shaped by science, ambition, and an unspoken fear of the past. Reality is no longer bound by mere chance. Probability itself bends to those who wield the Quantum Matrix, a force derived from the very essence of existence. With it, individuals can reshape their destinies-or bring ruin upon everything around them. Order and chaos exist in delicate balance, held in check by those who seek free will and those who seek freedom.
