Kate lives in a society where she has never seen her reflection. She has no idea what her hair looks like, what color her eyes are, or if she's attractive or not. Her society is based on self control and equality for all people. The major test for this group of kids is seeing their reflection in the mirror for the first time. If she shows any emotion seeing her reflection for the first time, she will be deemed too egotistical and lacking in self control, and will be eliminated from society. When her twin sister with down syndrome bursts into tears when looking in her reflection and is taken, Kate follows her. Read on to find what happens..
