(Sequel to Hell and Back)

If Wren Jordan had learned anything while being a leader, it was to never leave her people behind. There was never a good enough reason to do so before, and she wasn't about to start looking for one now.

Ever since she woke up in a blindingly, white room and saw her twin brother frantically screaming in the room opposite of her, Wren knew something was wrong. When she realized less than half of her people were present there, there was no doubt in her mind that she needed to find them and would stop at nothing to do so. Wren refused to give up hope about finding them, especially since one of the most important things in her life was with the missing group.

Now, with new feelings in mind, powering her every move, Wren must be willing to work with the enemy, make new and unexpected alliances, and raise hell while fighting for the ones she loves most. Even if it meant that her bond with her twin brother would be put through the ultimate test.

Alice had been kept as a prisoner by Kane, the Vampire King, for five years. Even after all this time, she was still waiting for the day that she would be rescued by Anna and Tate or escape from her prison on her own. Although the idea of ever leaving this place seemed to be just that, an idea, rather than a reality. After a while, Alice realized that if anyone was to save her, it had to be herself. With Sophia also wanting to flee from the clan, she'd become an unexpected ally of Alice's. Together, the two of them had been planning their grand escape, fully aware of the consequences that would follow once Kane discovered their betrayal. If Alice and Sophia succeeded Kane wouldn't hesitate to unleash his growing army of hybrids onto the world and hunt them down. They could only hope they were prepared for what was to come on the dangerous journey ahead. As the long-awaited day dawned, Alice found herself grappling with unexpected challenges. Nothing had gone according to plan, and now she faced even more obstacles than she could've imagined. That day it became clear to her that there were still countless mysteries in the world waiting to be unraveled, especially that of the supernatural. Alice wasn't sure if she was ready to do what needed to be done, now that the circumstances had changed. Not only did she have herself and her friends to protect, but the entire world was also depending on her. She had also made a promise to a stranger she intended to keep. Alice was more determined now than ever. So, if a war is what Kane wanted, then it was a war he would get.

She grew up in a house built on chaos-screaming behind locked doors, bloodstained towels, broken bottles. Her mother self-harmed in front of her. Her father drifted in and out, never staying long enough to protect her from anything. So, she made herself small. Gentle. Apologetic. She promised herself one thing: never become like them. Be kind. Be quiet. Be safe. Now at UConn, she keeps her head down. She volunteers at the library, wears soft cardigans, and flinches when voices get too loud. She rarely talks, never argues, and says sorry even when she's hurting. Most people think she's just shy. But Aubrey Griffin notices more-the tight way her jaw locks when someone mentions family, the way her hands tremble when she's overwhelmed, the mask of calm that slips when no one's watching. Their friendship is slow, warm, and full of soft moments. Aubrey becomes her safe place, the one who sees her without judgment. But as the bond grows, so does the fear-what if she loses this too? The girl keeps secrets: her mom's in and out of rehab, her dad still calls when he needs money, and sometimes she disappears just to scream where no one can hear. Aubrey knows something's off, but never pushes. Until jealousy creeps in. A teammate flirts with Aubrey, just enough to make the girl feel like she's in the way. Instead of speaking up, she shuts down-answering texts less, avoiding eye contact, pulling away because she doesn't know how to hold on to good things. It's the first time the girl cries in someone's arms and feels safe. Slowly, she lets herself be loved. Aubrey becomes not just her first love, but the first person to ever make her feel like she's allowed to take up space. And one day, when she finally introduces Aubrey to her little sister-the one she used to hide in closets while chaos raged around them-Aubrey brings flowers and holds her hand like a promise: you're not alone anymore.
