Bodvar, a human, a witcher, a outcast, a slayer of monsters . After the death of his wife Ida and the disappearance of his adopted son Eidvald, he now seeks revenge. But his task of revenge may be much harder than killing a few thieves or brigands. He now must now figure out who or what he is dealing with. Is it man or monster? Is it a single man or a whole organization? Bodvar must find out the answers to these questions if he has any notion to find his son.
