I Have My Pride (I Have My Pride 1) ✅
14 parts Complete MatureAt thirty-one years old, Kitsuki Mirukumi is one of the most popular Shonen manga artists in Japan, and is the top artist for the Shonen publication "In Your Face". But after he gains the ire of the the Mitsutake family, the publishers of "In Your Face", Kitsuki is suspended for two years from drawing for the publisher. But because he was suspended and not fired, Kitsuki cannot take his work elsewhere, and his fourth series is left in limbo before he can finish it.
Kitsuki slips into a funk because though he has enough money to sustain himself for the next two years, he wants to draw. Very much a loner, Kitsuki's closest friends he can confide in are imaginary friends who look like the heroes of his manga series's. No one else can see them, but they have been Kitsuki's most constant companions.
Then Kitsuki's former editor suggests that he "broaden his horizons" and try his hand at another genre.
Yaoi.
Kitsuki ultimately decides to sign a contract with "Massao", the largest Yaoi publication in Japan, under the pseudonym "Kii Miki". But his style, schedule, and attitude strongly clash with his new editor, Shido Kaorin. Kitsuki's luck only seems to worsen, and the once prominent mangaka seems doomed to failure.
I Have My Pride is the first book in a new series about a very eccentric mangaka, who is brilliant with his craft but a hopeless failure at everything else, and the people who surround him.
