Alistair Sharp lives above his parent's florists, Parade Des Fleurs, which is also owned by their next door neighbours - the Oberlin family, who's daughter is a violin prodigy. Alistair has known Sophie Oberlin his entire life, and just as they began to fall for each other, she enrolled in a prestigious music academy in Verona, Italy; leaving Alistair amidst the financial mess at the flower shop, as well as abandoning her ailing grandmother, who was more parental than her mum or dad could ever be. Over a year later, Amadea dies, and Sophie's knocking on Alistair's window like nothing has changed. But everything has changed, and with his last year of school on the horizon, Alistair's parents have left him in charge of the entire business - with no say from him. He feels like his future has already been set in stone, and now he can only watch as his former girlfriend spirals down her self destructing hurricane of grief and blame, almost as out of control as he is. He's just about given up on her, and himself, when a sudden encounter with a street urchin with sticky fingers, and Allistair decides he's not going to watch his best friend go down completely, not if he can help it.
