June is just another normal person. You know, the kind that graduate high school at 15 and finish college at 18. June became a CSI to help her city and if she's lucky, catch the man who murdered her parents when she was just 6 years old. She's 22 and doing what any twenty something person would be doing, solving crimes and binge watching nextflix. (Okay maybe just that second one) That is, until she is struck by lightning one night and put into a coma. She wakes up 9 months later, but she's changed. Once and a lifetime opportunities only strike once.

Venus isn't exactly a perfect paradise, Max knows, but it's much better than staying on Mars and listening to their parents argue all summer. Upon arrival in Marigold City, Max discovers that their extended family has taken in two kids their age off the streets - Kiffa, a tech-genius Zomai looking to use gadgets to fit in at school, and Azadri, a very self conscious Evior who believes she's too alien for her mostly-human peers. Sebastian, being a Hybrid, easily made friends with the two misfits, and the three of them became Cloud Nine Academy's playground menaces. Max, being 100% human, wants to make friends with their cousin's new gang, but they find themself feeling unworthy as they've never once felt they don't fit in. So, the only logical thing is to convince the trio that they're a misfit too. That shouldn't be too hard, should it?
