If you were to sum up Karlee Amador in one word, that word would be boring. As a self-induced recluse, her life revolves around school, her family's bakery "Sweet Eats", and her one friend Obree. So when her older sister Kayla forces her into attending a party with a dress requirement, Karlee is frantic to find something to wear.
Luckily, the Lolita fashion shop "Classic Sweet Tea" is right across the street from her house. Not so luckily, the prices of the dresses are well out of her wallet range. Fueled by desperation, Karlee pulls a daring move for the first time in her sixteen years of life - and it ends with the mysterious Donna May enlisting her to be a model for her upcoming fashion line.
Karlee is finally able to wear the dresses she's always loved, but her shyness prompts her (or, more appropriately, leaves-her-with-no-choice-but) to keep the whole gig a secret - along with the details of how she got the job. Hiding her modeling career from her strict mother and the gorgeous Kyung, who seems to actually be interested in HER, is no easy feat.
But with Kayla and Obree's help, Karlee Amador just might go from a nerdy, plain, and unvarying girl to the next top model of Atlanta's Lolita fashion world.
