What A Lovely Night
|BOOK 1 IN "WHAT A LOVELY SERIES"| Centuries into the future, earth's humans have changed. After a newly awakened dominant genome triggered the new arrival of superpowers, earth's inhabitants finally became super like their predecessors could have only dreamed of being. With now 50% of the population possessing some kind of power, the earth runs rampant with heroes and villains. And what better to train new aspiring heroes, than thriving hero schools. And better yet, the best one across the world, the Metropolis Hero Academy. Lilith Ito is a rather odd case. With a rather dark past that left Lilith both with no memory of the event and an unclassified type of Dissociative Identity Disorder, Lilith's home life had always been less than perfect. But as she began to acquire powers and a mentor with a similar ability, Lilith began to do something for herself, even without the intentions of a hero. But after her mentor was killed in action, Lilith finally takes one more selfish step and gets into M.H. Academy based on her dead mentor's recommendation letter. But keeping her past from her new classmates is hard. From new friends that Lilith doesn't want to scare away to a boy that somehow has captured her heart, Lilith has got her hands full. And as a hidden evil begins to arise from the shadows, Lilith will have to tackle her new life as a hero student with a clear conviction of whom she wants to be and what she'll sacrifice to get there. But dear reader, you must always remember: Evil still lurks around the corner. TO COMPLY WITH WATTPAD GUIDELINES, THE FOLLOWING BOOK HAS BEEN MARKED AS MATURE FOR ITS GRAPHIC VIOLENCE. Super?
"Stop pretending to be an idiot, idiot." Ouch. It burns. "You're starting to sound like a dear old friend of mine," she adds, her tone implying that her "friend" isn't so much of a "friend" as a mortal enemy who she probably also dragged into an alley on multiple occasions. Because she must be a fan of alley-dragging. Theater major. "I bet that friend was super amazing," I retort anyway. "She'd have to be to put up with you." Oh! Snap! I grin like an idiot at my own joke, realize how uncool that is, and then quickly rearrange my face into a frown. "I'm sorry. I don't quite understand. You're supposed to be a superhero, so why are you threatening a fellow superhero? Isn't that kind of against our code or whatever?" "You don't have a code. Superheroes who follow codes don't drop off information about people's allegedly dead sons at their doorsteps and then run." Well, can't say she doesn't have a point there. -- After being framed for the horrific murder of Birchwood City's most revered superhero's six year-old son, Maya Waterman abandons her super-villain persona and finds herself lost without any sense of identity and purpose. Being hunted by a vengeful super is hard enough, but after her employer fires her and she's evicted from her apartment, Maya begins to become something she had prayed she would never become again- helpless. She needs nothing less than a miracle to save herself, and much to her surprise, she gets just that-- even if it entails her trying her hand at becoming a good guy for once.Complete
