Sophie Foster is nearing the end of her years at Foxfire, but she knows this is only the beginning. She and Fitz continue their Cognate training, and ready themselves for the ultimate test ahead. While Fitz tries to find a job, Sophie juggles her wavering friendship with Keefe and the pressure placed upon her to ace the final exams as "The Great Sophie Foster" should. Sophie isn't sure if her frustratingly unwavering feelings towards Fitz will affect their role as Cognates, and dreads telling him the truth. If he knew, would their connection and trust falter, or strengthen? After the Neverseen's defeat, Sophie and her friends face the growing pressure of the public to be "perfect", a role Sophie struggles in obtaining. With graduation drawing closer, Sophie must piece her life together as secrets unfold and lies that should've been told long ago unravel.
