Two halves of the same whole

I followed behind Lena, my heart racing.

"Are you sure this is a good idea?" I whisper.

Lena glances over her shoulder at me. "Nope," she says, smirking.

"Great," I mumble to myself.

Suddenly, I feel a cold hand on my shoulder, stopping me dead in my tracks.

"Wait," I hear a voice say, almost pleadingly.

I recognized this voice. It was deep and raspy, so familiar to one that I already knew, but so different.
