Alejandro, nicknamed Ali, has spent most of his life trying to run from his past. He knows what he's done, and he knows that it wasn't good. He knows that he has to leave.
But first, he has some business to tend to.
Ali's boyfriend, James, has spent most of his life trying to get good grades in medical school. He doesn't know what Ali's done. He doesn't know what's going on.
But he'll find out soon enough.
....
James hasn't exactly had the best life.
After his boyfriend, fuelled by a psychotic rage, tried to kill him, he's barely managed to scrape himself together. Times are tough, and it's certainly hard to be a medical student when you're so scared of blood you can't see it without crying.
But he's learning to manage, and he's always got his trusty roommate Larissa on his side. She's a lot stronger than him, and his attempted murderer, Ali, is a thousand miles away back in Mexico. James is certain that he'll be safe, despite the constant unsettled feeling in his stomach.
But then Ali turns up at his doorstep.
And, although James doesn't quite understand it at the time, he knows one thing- his world is about to change.
For better or for worse.
