When you put yourself out there, and decide to fall in love with a cute boy who plays the guitar too well and knows you better then you know Pink Floyd, you know you've given him the power to break you. I foolishly gave a damn about a kid named Austin I met at band camp. I told him I loved him and I let myself live in a dream for only a few seconds that he'd say the words right back.
But instead, he ran away, fast like lightning. He was rushing back to a nice girl named Abby - someone he was comfortable around and who was perfect; and guaranteed not to break his pretty boy heart.
I wasn't any of the things he needed. I was a pure storm of emotionless humor and had the job of taking care of too many kids. I didn't have time for love and Austin didn't have time for me.
