Yuri Katsuki, a 24 year old man, lived on his own after his parents died. He used to ice skate, but then stopped doing it, as it didn't entertain him. After his parents died, he was broken. The only reason he kept smiling was his best friend, Phichit Chulalont.

When Yuri used to figure skate, he had a rink mate at age 10. His name was Viktor Nikiforov. But due to family problems, Viktor had to move back to Russia. Yuri was very lonely after that, but then he met Phichit and immediately became best friends.

At age 15, a major event happened, which ruined his life and took his whole family. He had to live with his friend Minako, but as soon as he turned 18, he went to live on his own. He felt like he was a burden on her. So now here is Yuri Katsuki, now 24, single, living alone. He thought it would stay that way, until he saw him.
