Hearts freeze over as Pocahontas High School is in lockdown as gunshots fill the air. The fear of death for thousands of people becomes a real reality. Eliza, Oscar, Trevor, and Lexi are four high schoolers from different sides of social groups. They have secretly been intertwined in each others lives without them ever even noticing. As the day progresses, they realize the risks of their lives being taken away, as well as those around them. Time stops as PHS changes forever over the course of a couple hours.

The main character fell for a popular boy in their high school. For multiple months, the main character has been hiding themselves from this boy, Tal, because they've been scared of what Tal may think of them. After a while of waiting and hiding, Tal finally notices the main character and automatically falls in love with them; they had love at first sight. Slowly this major change affected the main character, their everyday life, and experiences they haven't had before. Their friends leave them and the main character is left with Tal and a few of his friends.
