The lives of Cato and Clove from beginning to end. Were they really a couple? Friends? Enemies? This is the story of how they live their lives in the unfeeling place called District 2. Where everyone is trained to kill without the slightest feeling of remorse. Where they pay you to give up your children for their training academies. Prepare to see District 2 through Cato and Clove's eyes as they are tested to the limit and brainwashed in the way of the warrior. All for the good of the Capitol, but things are changing. People in the District are starting to, feel things. Will Cato and Clove learn to have a heart or kill it before it learns to grow?

Clove's father turns abusive when her mother dies and when Cato finds out about that, he starts being even more protective of her, and their trainer, the famous Enobaria, finds out about Clove being abused and takes Clove in, and treats her like she is her daughter. Clove never knew her parents. All she knows is her trainer Favian who sometimes doubles as her dad, and sometimes falls far short of looking out for her. In district 2 they train you not to be heartless, but to ignore your heart. After years of solitude with Favian her only family Clove has mastered this skill almost as well as she's mastered knife throwing. When new training partners for the year are assigned the day after the 73rd reaping, a mistake is made. Clove ends up partnered in the wrong age category with next years best contender for the crown: Cato Hadley. Everyone is jealous but Clove has bigger problems to deal with than her annoying partner. She has a secret that she's kept hidden for years and only Cato can save her from herself.Complete
